Hundreds of youths turn up for LDU recruitment in Kagadi

218 youth from the districts of Kibaale and Kagadi have been successful during the Local Defense Unit (LDU) recruitment held today at the office of the Resident District Commissioner in Kagadi Town.

Brigadier Joseph Balikuddembe the 1st Division Deputy Commander Kakiri said that most of those who had turned up for the exercise had Hepatitis B infection and they were given referral letters for further treatment.

Brig. Balikuddembe further said that girls’ turn up was good but those who qualified were only 12 after others failed to meet the entry point physical exercises.

Lillian Ruteraho the Kagadi district RDC expressed gratitude for the good turn up and mostly to ladies and congratulated them upon succeeding the entry point stage.

Lillian further applauded the youths for keeping themselves safe and understanding the presidential initiative to end HIV/AIDS and cautioned them to remain committed up to the end.

However, 3 were arrested on allegations of forging both academic documents and the national identity card in order to get recruited into LDU.

Those who failed the entry point exercises said that they lacked few documents after they carried photocopies of their academic documents while originals were required and others came late.

The recruitment exercise covered 2 districts of Kagadi and Kibaale were among the 218 successful candidates, 23 were from Kibaale and 195 were from Kagadi district.

These are expected to add on the security of the country and they will receive the required training techniques to enable them do their work well.
